ABOUT THIS ATLAS

Records, places, and a little context.

The Cazier and Stephenson families have separate views. Wilcox contains only the maternal branch of the Cazier family and stops at the mother of the Cazier starting generation. Generation 0 is each family view’s fixed starting point. Each higher number goes one generation further back; it does not describe the visitor’s relationship. Upstream tracing follows two generations of the selected person’s ancestors; downstream tracing follows their recorded family line to Generation 0.

What time means here

A year snapshot includes people born by that year whose recorded death year is that year or later. A person may have been alive for only part of that year. Markers always show birthplaces, not where people lived at the time.

People with missing years are not silently given a lifespan. The optional uncertain-lifespan layer uses a maximum 100-year window after a known birth year and does not establish that someone was alive. Approximate historical dates remain approximate.

What lines mean

Solid lines connect parents and children at their birthplaces. Dashed lines connect a person's recorded birth and death locations. Neither represents a documented travel route.

Source information

The original cleaned and geocoded exports are preserved. Additional death information comes from the earlier family workbook. Conflicting dates are retained for review rather than overwriting the cleaned years. Death coordinates are reused only from matching, unambiguous geocoded place names; other death places remain available as text.

Online map tiles require an internet connection. Family records are served by this application, not sent to the map provider.
